Oyster Festival Long IslandTaste your way through the 30th annual Oyster Festival, the biggest waterfront event on the East Coast, held in beautiful Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. Indulge in the tasty delights of the Food Court, where over 30 organizations team up with local businesses to host culinary booths manned by volunteer and professional chefs, and take part in fun events and rides that the whole family will love. This free extravaganza will be held on the weekend of October 19-20, 2013, from 11 am to 6 pm.
What makes this food festival special is that no food item is repeated; each booth serves up its own unique menu. There will be plenty of succulent seafood-based eats on offer including fresh oysters on the half shell, oyster po\' boys, seafood gumbo, lobster and crab rolls, soft shell crab, oyster stew, and creamy lobster bisque. If you get stuffed on seafood, you can also enjoy roasted corn, Brooklyn egg creams, Italian ice, sweet potato fries, and homemade apple pie. These are just a few of the many great bites that you can feast on!
Don\'t miss the popular oyster eating and shucking contests that draw fans and participants from all over the East Coast. Shop at the arts and crafts market, where over 150 vendors sell their handcrafted, artisanal wares along the beautiful harbor. You\'ll also find tons of family fun at the festival with rides, live music, and historic Tall Ships on view. Getting to the festival is easy via the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and special Oyster Festival routes schedules and discounted round-trip ticket packages are available.
