Ballroom Dancing On Long Island

About 2 year(s) ago by The Inn At Fox Hollow
Ballroom Dancing On Long Island Are you a dancing fool? Have you often dreamed of becoming one? Well, dust off your dancing shoes, grab your partner, and head out to the Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium in Centerport on Long Island for eight hot nights of steamy ballroom dancing. It’s a great way to practice your passion or learn a new one. Admission to each dance is just $20 a person and lessons are included. They’ll be taking place Thursday nights from June 27 through August 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 and everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic dinner so you’ll have plenty of energy. This fun event got started last year and was brought back due to popular demand. In addition to ballroom dancing, attendees will learn everything from the cha-cha to waltzes.
What makes the evening even more special is the amazing location. Formerly the home of William Vanderbilt II, known as Eagles Nest Estate, the 43-acre spread features a must-see museum and classic planetarium. The museum includes the 24-room mansion, which was built in 1910, natural history habitats, the Hall of Fish, a seaplane hangar, curator's cottage, and boathouse. What’s more, there are picturesque gardens, large pools, and impressive fountains. Tours of the home are quite inspiring. You’ll be taken through both the living quarters and servant’s wing, learning the history of the Vanderbilt family along the way. Everything from paintings and antique furnishings to portraits and photographs are on display. In short, it’s a window into the world of the Vanderbilt family who summered in Centerport where you’ll be dancing the night away.
