About 3 year(s) ago by The Inn At Fox Hollow Treat your family to anold-fashioned county fair with livestock exhibitions, horticulture competitions, children’s games and much more when you visit the Long Island Fair. Taking place at Old Bethpage Village this autumn, the Long Island Fair is an inexpensive family event that highlights the region’s farming heritage. For over 170 years the Long Island Fair has delighted the citizens of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties with friendly fun, community-oriented events and of course – plenty of delicious fair food like funnel cakes, turkey legs and candy apples. Festivities center around the magnificent Exhibition Hall, a beautiful replica of the original 1866 building that showcases the agricultural, horticultural and domestic arts exhibits. At the fair you’ll also find plenty of activities for children, including carnival games, pony rides, magic shows and puppets. There will be plenty of live entertainment and music, including brass bands and traditional New England sounds. Cheer for your favorite competitor at crosscut sawing contests, shop for unique gifts from local vendors, and watch arts and crafts demonstrations. Peruse the many fair exhibitions, from giant pumpkins to beautiful birds, and don’t miss the incredible handiwork on display in the quilts and afghan competitions. The activities, events and schedule are still being finalized, but you can expect exciting competitions in the culinary arts, needlework, photography, home brewing, flowers, vegetables, poultry and rabbits. The Long Island Fair takes place this year the last two weekends of September, the 20-22 and 27-29 at Old Bethpage Village, located on Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage, NY, 11804.
