Cradle of Aviation Museum Long Island

For over a century, from the first biplanes to man's walk on the Moon, Long Island has been on the edge of America's aviation and space adventure. Located in Garden City, the Cradle of Aviation Museum celebrates Long Island's significant place in the history and development of flight. Long Island's air and space museum features unique exhibits that chronicle the area's aviation heritage and many historic flights.
 
See permanent exhibits with photos, artifacts and over 60 aircraft and scale models of airplanes, including Charles Lindbergh's Curtiss Jenny, the A-10 Thunderbolt II and Grumman F-14 Tomcat, and an actual Apollo Lunar Module. See amazing films on the Giant Screen Dome Theater - Nassau County's only domed IMAX theatre - and feel the exhilarating motion, sound and sight. See military aircraft and missiles at Aerospace Park and Rocket Garden.

Open Tuesday-Sunday, 9:30 AM -5:00 PM. Open Mondays for school groups.
 

Prices:

Adults: $14; Child/Senior: $12. Add $5 for the Giant Screen Combo.

Parking & Mass Transit -

Getting to the museum is a breeze from Meadowbrook Parkway or public transportation. Free parking is available in the parking lot off Charles Lindbergh Blvd.

  • Bus:

    The N16, N45, and N51 buses stop a few blocks from the Museum at Nassau Community College.

  • Train:

    Taxis are available from LIRR stations at Garden City, Mineola, and Westbury.

Red Planet Café -

Enjoy dining at the museum's Red Planet Café where you feel transported to a Space Station on Mars in the year 2040. Look over the surreal Martian landscape while enjoying unique cuisine.

Museum exhibits share LI's history of aviation - from the historic flights of the 1920s to adventures in space. Permanent exhibits include: Dream of Wings 1870-1903, The Hempstead Plains, World War I, The Golden Age, World War II, The Jet Age, Space Exploration and Aviation Today. See over 60 amazing aircraft and scale models, including Charles Lindbergh's Curtiss Jenny, A-10 Thunderbolt II and Grumman F-14 Tomcat, and an Apollo Lunar Module. The four-story glass Visitor's Center Atrium features 8 artifacts suspended, including a Grumman F-11 in Blue Angels colors.
